Seawall Fibres Huge Success at Knit City 2017

I finally made contact with the girls last night after they had gotten home from Day #1. Apparently, business was brisk to say the least.

The girls say they estimate they sold about half the skeins they had shipped out there and that there were only a few of Vickie's hand painted yarn blanks left.

So they have already gone way past their sales goal for the entire event!
They said that it was great to meet so many knitters from the Ravelry group and to hear the comments about the quality of our yarn.
Today should be another busy day and I'll update tomorrow.

Knit City 2017 Set Up Day

As you know, the shelves are bare in the yarn section of the shop as Lisa and Vickie are out in Vancouver for the big knitting trade show- Knit City 2017.
On Thursday they got the various props they needed for the booth and yesterday at noon they were able to start setting up. here's how the booth looked when they got there.

After the displays went up, they started putting up some of the yarn and finished goods.

The show runs two days and apart from the regular colours they will be featuring Vickie's hand painted sock blanks and a commemorative colour dyed just for the show. Here it is.

Believe it or not, knitters actually take these things apart and knit them and when they do they get two identical socks. But several of the people I have shown them to say that they would just hang them on the wall as art!
We'll keep you posted as to what is going on.

Good news for the Knitters!

If you are a knitter, you probably know that we are preparing for Knit City in Vancouver at the end of September. Our daughter Lisa has been dying her ? off and we have just completed a major restock of the shop.

We are overflowing to the point we are using bins!
WE have another exciting bit of news. Lisa and Vickie have developed a special commemorative colour just for the show! It's called KC Commemorative 2017 and here it is!

I am told that if there are any left over after the show, they will be available on Etsy and in the shop. We'll keep you posted.
We have had a lot of visitors to the shop this week but I have been able to restock the rock specimens as well so if you like rocks, come on by!

Back to Work

Well, it certainly has been an interesting summer! Got my new hip May 4th but had to have a second operation to clean up a staph infection so it is only now that things are getting back to what passes for normal around here.

Our daughter, Lisa, is here and she and Vickie are hand dying yarn. Here's some drying in the breeze on the deck.

And since I can now stand without a walker or cane, I'm back to work in the rock shop, working to replace the rock we have sold this summer.
So come on by and see all the beautiful new merchandise in the shop and check out the rock shop while you are here. Kids of all ages (and I mean ALL) really like seeing how the stone gets transferred from rough to polished.
We are in the process of adding several hundred skeins of yarn into inventory so the shelves will be bulging for all you knitting fanatics (you know who you are!)

The Verdict is In on Seawall Fibres!

We have now had our beautiful Seawall Fibres hand dyed yarn in the shop for a few weeks and it has been a real eye opener for me- a non-knitter.

Here are some actual quotes from people who have shopped in person and then posted on the Seawall Fibres board on Ravelry:

Needless to say, sales in the shop have been brisk and this week alone, through our Etsy Shop, we have shipped yarn to Sweden, Ireland, England, the USA and even Canada!

So if you are a knitter, you owe it to yourself to check out Seawall Fibres!

And now a word to you long suffering non-knitters who know a serious knitter (we'll call it SK). In the words of ex President Clinton, " I feel your Pain!".

When I was in the golf business, I was convinced that golfers were the worst fanatics known to man.

I was wrong.

When I got into the sunglass business I met the surfing community. I thought they were the worst fanatics.

I was wrong.

We sold to bass fishermen. Who but the world's biggest fanatics would spend tens of thousands on a bass boat which is basically an open skiff with a seat in the middle and a honking big motor on the back and then enter a tournament and stuff their fish with lead weights to win?

I was wrong.

I say that because I have now met SK! SK enters a yarn store and starts to drool. Read the above quotes people! SK doesn't just knit yarn, SK has an intimate relationship with it. SK has a "stash" of yarn. If your SK has say, 50 skeins, they can still be saved. I've seen worse- a LOT worse! Vickie's stash is so big that if she dies before me I can sell it and move to Tahiti. Heck I could BUY Tahiti!

So if your SK says "I want to go to The Artist's Mark to look at the yarn, they are LYING! I suggest you bring a good book or hang out with me in the rock shop. In the time it takes SK to fondle every skein in the store before buying (and trust me, SK WILL buy) I can teach you to be a first class lapidary!

Oh, did I mention that rock hounds are the biggest fanatics in the world...?
